LA ESCANDELLA AT THE HEAD OF THE WORLD ROOF TILE SECTOR
Agost is home to one of the largest roof tile factories in the world, built recently by a major emerging company in the clay product manufacturing sector, La Escandella. The new factory is able to produce 700 tonnes of roof tiles a day; this capacity has allowed the company to double its pressed roof tile production from 46 to 100 million pieces a year.
The only Italian company to have taken part in the project was TECNOFILIERE, considered a world-leading company in extrusion technology, which supplied the dies for both extruded and pressed tiles. The bent tiles extrusion dies were produced with four, five and six exits: very unusual for the heavy clay sector.

TECNOFILIERE REALIZES A SERIES OF NEW AND INNOVATIVE TYPES OF EXTRUDER DIE
Displaying the dynamism and enterprise for which it is renowned, TECNOFILIERE recently designed, built and marketed a series of new and innovative types of extruder die.
The new four-, five- and six-exit extruder dies for roof tiles are a typical example. Vertical double-exit extrusion of pre-shaped two-dimensional bats for pressed tiles is also a totally new development for the clay sector.

SEL CHOOSES TECNOFILIERE TECHNOLOGY
SEL (Società Emiliana Laterizi), a company which specialises in the production of floor blocks and thermally insulating wall products, recently concluded a large-scale project to modernise its plant by introducing the wide-exit extrusion.
TECNOFILIERE, of Novi di Modena, the company that was the first to develop this technology, supplied new dies to allow production to be converted from single-exit to double-exit operation for floor blocks, while wall products are now extruded with three or four exits.

SEL (SOCIETA’ EMILIANA LATERIZI), FLOOR BLOCK SPECIALISTS
SEL, a company that has been producing wall and floor blocks since the early 1960’s is located near Modena. The recent plant modernization has increased the factory’s production capacity to about 1,000 tons per day.
For the most radical modification, the introduction of wide-exit extrusion, SEL chooses the company TECNOFILIERE. The new extrusion system allowed to switch from single-exit to double-exit operation for floor blocks, while wall products are now extruded with three or four exits. In the future will also allow to produce large panels for prefabricated elements.

NEW TYPE OF EXTRUDER DIE FOR THE PRODUCTION OF CLAY PIPES
Tecnofiliere is unveiling a new type of extruder die for the production of clay pipes. The company developed it using the most advanced 3D design software combined with its enormous expertise in the field of extrusion techniques.
The heart of the new extruder die is the core holder, an essential component for the purposes of effective operation. Its structure must be able to withstand the enormous thrusts of the material and then allow it to re-compact easily. For this purpose, Tecnofiliere has adopted a three-arm core holder with highly-sophisticated three-dimensional profiling.

TECNOFILIERE SUPPLIES PLANT TO LUDOWICI ROOF TILE (USA)
Ludowici Roof Tile of Lexington, Ohio, a US company that produces a wide range of high quality pressed and extruded roof tiles, has chosen TECNOFILIERE to optimize the extrusion stage for its flagship products.
After extensive consulting work on the theme of extrusion, TECNOFILIERE supplied the US company with two extruder pressure heads with external braking system and two dies for single-exit extrusion of Mission and Spanish model roof tiles, a special version of the model TFE.
